THE JOURNEY BEGINS
The Spectre project has been a long time in the making. With the local trails demanding more, and the eagerness to ride them demanding better. It was only a matter of time before we had to answer the needs of the rider and the call of the mountains. Our answer is Real Racing. Our answer is the Spectre.
DEFINED
WHAT'S IN A NAME
Something to be feared, we wanted the Spectre to be a formidable opponent to the fastest competitors on the most demanding trails. It's official unveiling would demand everything of it, and failure was not an option.
inspiring colours
Following some extensive "low-key" prototype testing out of the public eye, when it was time to unveil the Spectre for the first time we needed something deserving of the demands that would be placed on it, and something that inspired speed: "go fast" yellow and "racing" red.
CURATED COMPONENTS
We needed to make a splash come race-day, and as such our selection of components needed to live up to the demands of the race all the while complimenting the frame and delivering performance, reliability and function without putting it in the "out of reach" category.
THOUGHTFUL DESIGN
Being based in South Africa, we are uniquely positioned to understand the needs and demands of marathon racers of all levels. This "ear to the ground" connection with the sport has largely inspired many of the decisions in the Spectre project.
THIRSTY
SPACE FOR TWO
The Spectre's frame is designed around two water bottles within the front triangle, perfectly suited to long days in the saddle whether riding, racing or training under the hot sun.
ROUTED FOR THE FUTURE
Another key thought process was to ensure that the frame had the capability to handle all of the varying demands of modern day marathon and trail bikes, including the option for (or against) front and rear suspension lockout and dropper seatposts.
SLEEK
SMOOTH IS FAST
With flowing organic lines and well thought out integration, not only are the Spectre's lines good on the eyes, but the flowing shapes make for a stronger frame by eliminating high-stress areas.
LINKING TRAILS
Our goal was to deliver a well-balanced, confidence inspiring marathon bike that can as easily adapt to the new generation of technically demanding mountain biking without compromising on it's efficiency.
ROCKING
PUSHING ON
A short, sleek rocker link neatly straddling the top-tube drives the rear shock. This link controls the suspension rate for maximum rider support, and ensures lateral stiffness of the rear wheel for stiff, dependable power delivery and snappy turning response.
REAL RACING
Mountain biking doesn't happen in an office or on a CAD program, it happens outside on the trails where the demands are real and ever changing. These demands are heightened in competition, and there is no more demanding proving ground than the Cape Epic, a true test of rider and machine.
SUCCESS
THE FINISHLINE
Celebration; sometimes it's champagne, sometimes it's beer, for us it is finishing the worlds most demanding multi-day mountain bike stage race without any failures. That's what we did with the Spectre.
BREAKING AWAY
We might have crossed the finishline at the Cape Epic, but the race isn't over. We are dropping the hammer and ramping up the pace to bring the Spectre to life. Component selection, graphic design, paint, decals, packaging and logistics, all of the behind-the-scenes races for the final finish sprint.
DELIVERING
FINAL SPRINT
With a tight delivery goal we're driving off the front of the pack to put in the finishing touches. Our goal is to launch the now tried and tested Spectre to the market in October 2023.
